you know, the cost of health care and health insurance has risen
drastically in recent years. In order to try to cope with the increasing costs,
employers have been forced to increase plan co-pays,
deductibles, discontinue supplemental coverage, etc. The cost of daycare for the
children of working parents has also increased dramatically over the years.
In order to help ease the burden of these added co-pays and costs, your employer has elected to offer Health Care Flex Accounts (FSA, HRA, MERP) and Dependent Care Accounts to its employees. These plans allows each eligible employee to tailor make his or her own pre-tax benefits in order to fit each individual's specific needs. By using pre-tax benefits, each participating employee creates more take-home pay income for themselves because the benefits chosen are paid for with, non-taxable allocations from the employees' earnings. Your contributions to this Plan will never be subject to FICA, federal or state payroll taxes. Your health care and dependent care dollars can now go further than before because of the payroll tax savings on your payroll deduction contributions.
